In one of the most famous Dove films, Real Beauty Sketches explores the gap between how others perceive us and how we perceive ourselves. Each woman is the subject of two portraits drawn by FBI-trained forensic artist Gil Zamora: one based on her own description, and the other using a stranger’s observations. The results are surprising…

Senegal hasn’t been ruled by France for over half a century, but its former coloniser still sets the tone here. Nowadays, that’s not only true in terms of clothing, but skin color as well. Senegalese girls want to look like Europeans. Advertisements in magazines and on billboards display light-skinned models, insisting that this is what men like. Pharmacists have come to the rescue of fashion-conscious women. They offer pills and skin-lightening creams, but rarely warn the buyers of the possible catastrophic side effects of using them. These products have long been banned worldwide, but that doesn’t stop Senegalese women bent on flaunting a lighter skin shade.
To see what sacrifices they’re willing to make for the sake of ‘beauty’ and find out more about the dangers of skin whitening, watch Beauty and the Bleach on RTD Documentaries.

Social media are influencing the way women feel about their own bodies. Young women in particular are constantly being confronted with pictures of beautiful female bodies online – images which have almost always been digitally enhanced.
This documentary take a long and alarming look at young women whose everyday lives are dictated by the search for bodily perfection. The more users click their way through Instagram, Facebook and so on, the greater their dissatisfaction with their own appearance becomes. Hardly anyone can escape the pull of this illusory world, where beauty, fitness and lifestyle count for everything. The consequences an even be fatal: slimming and fitness crazes, eating disorders of all kinds, body shaming and sexism. During her research, filmmaker Jennifer Rezny came across a Canadian study that found that young women’s insecurity has been increased by social media. It feels like almost everyone is trying to present themselves on Instagram in slick filter-processed selfies these days. Despite increasing calls for diversity, the “ideal” female body still dominates the media’s perception of female beauty. Numerous movements and initiatives – even on the part of the fashion and advertising industries themselves – have had little effect. “The female body has always been a carrier of female identity. It’s nothing new for us women to be objectified and sexualised,” says Rezny. “There has also been a great deal of social development, but we are still not where we should be and where we women want to be, in an equal society. And in any case, we live in a meritocratic society, one defined and colored by capitalism, which always has to be optimized and improved. It can never be enough.”

But the industry is changing – and Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty isn’t the only brand laying the foundation for a more inclusive beauty industry.

Rihanna’s new makeup line Fenty Beauty has been an instant success — and it’s not only popular because Rihanna’s name is attached to it. Fenty Beauty carries a wide range of foundations — 40 to be exact — which has the beauty industry shook. Cosmetics and the beauty industry as a whole, has a long history of creating products that did not match deeper-toned people of color. There are a number of factors that have lead many mainstream beauty companies to having a narrow selection for people of color — and not all of those reasons are rooted in product development. With Fenty Beauty, Rihanna is showing the industry that it’s worth investing money and time into creating nuanced products beyond the ranges of ivory, beige, and tan.

I NOW OFFER A *VERY* AFFORDABLE SERVICE FOR DETERMINING YOUR PLANETARY TYPE WITH YOUR CHART AND A PHOTO! FOUND HERE:
https://www.clairenakti.com/services
MORE INFO ON VENUS DOMINANT PEOPLE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFtrayTiTAQ&t=7s
Exploring the unique beauty of the type of women who are dominated by the astrological Venus in appearance. We explore Venus women’s physical traits, sexual preferences, and the type of Goddess that she embodies, as well as how to determine if you’re a Venus woman overall. These videos are also helpful in being able to start to sense and “guess” astrological signs on the face, without having to rely on seeing someone’s birth chart, and so help to bridge the gap between intuition and the intellect in astrological practice.
NOTES ABOUT THIS SERIES:
First of all, please be aware that (as I tried to explain in the intro) these videos are not about whether you are attractive or not, or how to determine one’s level of beauty from a birth chart. That is quite a difference science, as in order to have overall beauty, all the planetary sheaths need to act harmonically together. We will do videos in the future about how to analyze beauty in a natal chart, but for now these videos serve as a generalized classification system to help you realize your POTENTIAL. Even if you think you are a Venus beauty type but the example women in this video are “rated” as 9’s or 10’s, and you think you’re only a 5 or 6, you would still have these traits at some level and would then understand what you could cultivate to increase your magnetic abilities. There can be a Rahu beauty rated as a 2, or a Rahu beauty rated as an 8; they still both possess some “hypnotic” abilities, just at different levels. Every person, when they realize what raw material they are, can then use the examples as celebrity idols (since celebrities have so much help in cultivating their beauty through stylists, makeup artists, trainers, etc), to maximize their potential, understanding what Goddess they embody as well. That is the purpose of these videos. These videos are broad, but we will narrow down into more detail in future videos, breaking it down to explore each nakshatra, aspects of the chart, planetary strength, etc. and how they affect overall life and appearance.
Please subscribe to see more videos like this– on vedic astrology and the female spiritual path– and like & comment on this video 🙂
